Who We Are

There are so many stories and experiences that make us who we are. We are all unique in our own way. We come from different backgrounds, ethnicity, financial situations, or personal tastes. When New View comes together, we do not ignore those differences but choose to focus on one similarity: that we want to learn how to be closer to the heart of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

Our Sunday gathering reminds us that God does not care about the physical building or the programs we run. He wants us just as we are, following Jesus together. Our gatherings are for real people to have an opportunity to be transformed by a real God. We hope our environment is one where you feel invited, relaxed, encouraged and moved. It’s a time we hope you’ll want to come back to.

Theology

Scripture is God’s Word to us.

The Bible is God’s message to human beings. Written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit (inspired by God), Scripture is the supreme source of Truth for Christian beliefs and living.

2 Timothy 3:16 , 2 Peter 1:20-21 , Psalm 119:105 , Psalm 12:6

God is Good.

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He is love. His creation is good. There is one God who exists forever in perfect community as three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Genesis 1:26-27, Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19, 1 Peter 1:2

Jesus is both human and divine.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God – fully human and fully God. He lived a sinless human life and died on the cross as a perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people. Three days later, Jesus rose from the dead to show He had conquered sin and death. Jesus ascended to the Father and will return again to earth as the Savior of the world.

Matthew 1:22-23, Isaiah 9:6,  John 1:1-5, John 1:14, Hebrews 4:14-15, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Romans 1:3,4, Acts 1:9-11, Colossians 1:15-17

We have all sinned.

People are made in God’s image – to be like Him in character, but because human beings rebelled against God (Adam & Eve) everyone is born with a selfish nature to “miss the mark”. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin.”

Genesis 1:27, Psalm 8:3-6, Isaiah 53:6, Romans 3:23, Isaiah 59:1-2

Only God can save us.

Salvation is a gift from God to humans, but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Salvation is offered in grace and received by faith in Jesus Christ alone.

Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8-9, John 14:6, John 1:12, Acts 4:12

We will live forever.

We have choices. We will either accept what Jesus has done for us and live forever with God (Heaven) or be eternally separated from God by sin (Hell).

John 3:16, 1 John 2:25, Romans 6:23, Revelation 20:15, 1 John 5:11-12, Matthew 25:31-46

The church is on mission with Jesus.

When people come to Jesus, God plants inside of them all that is needed to go, make disciples, baptize, and teach the culture how to love God. As people go on the mission with Jesus, churches emerge and God changes the worlds heart-first.

Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 1:8, John 17:15, John 20:21, Matthew 16:18

The Holy Spirit is our power.

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need of Jesus. The Holy Spirit lives in every follower of Jesus from the moment of salvation. The Holy Spirit provides the followers of Jesus with power to live a life of love, understanding spiritual truth, and boldness in sharing God’s message with others.

John 16:7-13, John 14:16-17, Acts 1:8, 1 Corinthians 2:12, 1 Corinthians 3:16, Ephesians 1:13, Galatians 5:25
